HDR in Helsinki: Airport

by admin on Mar 12, 2012

Well, this is the Helsinki Airport by sunset. No wonder it’s the busiest airport around here – after all, it lies next to the capital city. It’s actually built 60 years ago for the 1952 Summer Olympics that were held in Helsinki. Some years ago it was also the most punctual airport in Europe (maybe even now) and it’s ranked pretty high in a leading review site. This photo is taken from the northeast side of the airport where you can see the main terminals. Sometimes landing planes fly over very close to this place – but not today so we had to settle for terminal pictures.

On a side note, this is my favourite airport. It’s easy to navigate, no big lines for security check and it has FREE wireless. Many airports have wireless but there’s a catch. It costs. In Helsinki it’s a free and a nerd like me really appreciates it. I also slept there once. The plane left early in the morning and no buses were going to airport at this time so I decided to stay overnight at airport. It was pretty OK – nobody disturbed the sleep granted you had earplugs and were dead-tired. Thus, I recommend Helsinki Airport for you!
