To celebrate Blog For Photos 7 month birthday – it’s today! – I’ll make a series of posts from all over the Europe. Starting with this Tallinn photo….
Raekoja Plats is one of the main attractions of the city. It is a large square in the center of the Old Town. Raekoja Plats translates to Town Hall Square. The Town Hall, as you might guess, lies on the side of the square. Many festivals, such as Christmas Market, are held on the square. Also restaurants (for tourists) are located by Raekoja Plats.
Indeed, there were restaurants. And yes, they were for tourists. The waiters were trying to tempt us to step in, eat little meals and pay a lot. Didn’t work. We just photographed and walked away. I think the best restaurants are found elsewhere. There where the locals eat. Last year I got an opportunity to eat with natives and the pork tasted good – and it was a lot of food with little money. I think that’s something you can’t find at Raekoja Plats.
