This is a place where tech students drink. Have barbeque. Play guitar. Because this beach called Servinniemi is next to Teekkarikylä, a technology students’ village. It’s basically many apartment blocks next to each other with only student residents. Then on summertime they come to this beach to do their things. For example there’s a wooden bench and remainings of a campfire on the left hand side. There’s probably been a barbeque party lately. And why not, check out the views there and you can understand why.
This piece of HDR photography is taken inside borders of Helsinki. No worries about that. It just shows Keilaniemi, which is a district in the neighbouring city of Espoo. The city border runs about 50 metres from here, towards the sea. And those tall buildings are the most recognizable part of Keilaniemi. They are headquarters of large companies. For example, Nokia. Just the biggest company in whole Finland. You probably know it too. Just look at your phone ;)
We got plenty of shopping centres in Helsinki area. One of them is Iso Omena (which translates to Big Apple, the nickname of New York City). The mall is actually located in Espoo city – not Helsinki – but in Helsinki Metropolitan area nonetheless. I think it’s pretty typical shopping centre with modern architecture, million shops and “shop-eat-cinema-at-same-visit” style. There is something that it’s not so common amongst the shopping centres though: it has apartments and those are directly connected to the Iso Omena mall.
