HDR in Estonia: Sunrise

Sunrise is Estonia isn’t bad. We woke up at five o’clock in the morning. Next to Gulf of Finland. Not actually to photograph but to drive. However when we saw this view we couldn’t help setting the tripod and shoot some. There was also some other photographer there. Hope he got awesome shots too!

HDR in Berlin: Tiergarten

Tiergarten is the Central Park of Berlin. It’s a large green zone located in downtown Berlin. In the middle of Tiergarten there’s a monument called Siegessäule. With an observation deck on the top. Photographing there is OK although the deck is pretty small. So care must be taken when using a tripod. Anyway sights are nice up there: you can see the huge park spanning to every direction from the tower with buildings somewhere far away.

HDR in Sweden: Helsingborg

Helsingborg is a town in the west coast of Sweden. It’s also so close to Denmark it only takes 15 minutes to get there. By the ferry. And the ferry’s lights can be seen far on the right hand side. The downtown is right in front. The photo itself is taken from the premises of an old castle. It was built on a hill so it offered great views over the city – and to Denmark too.

HDR in Tallinn: Raekoja Plats

To celebrate Blog For Photos 7 month birthday – it’s today! – I’ll make a series of posts from all over the Europe. Starting with this Tallinn photo….

Raekoja Plats is one of the main attractions of the city. It is a large square in the center of the Old Town. Raekoja Plats translates to Town Hall Square. The Town Hall, as you might guess, lies on the side of the square. Many festivals, such as Christmas Market, are held on the square. Also restaurants (for tourists) are located by Raekoja Plats.

Indeed, there were restaurants. And yes, they were for tourists. The waiters were trying to tempt us to step in, eat little meals and pay a lot. Didn’t work. We just photographed and walked away. I think the best restaurants are found elsewhere. There where the locals eat. Last year I got an opportunity to eat with natives and the pork tasted good – and it was a lot of food with little money. I think that’s something you can’t find at Raekoja Plats.

HDR in Helsinki: University Area

This is the university area of Helsinki. It’s very close to the Central Railway Station. The major university building Porthania is on the left hand side. Also the university main building is very close. If you follow the road and take turn right, it’s right there!
