Let’s take a boardwalk to sunset! At this place it is possible. This boardwalk is located at Seurasaari island area next to this cottage. There’s a sign at the beginning of the walk with words “Use at your own risk”. Well, we used them at our own risk with Tommi and walked to the little island. We found, for example, a medieval market village. There were plenty of room to swim and fish too. For everybody coming to Seurasaari area I recommend taking the boardwalk and getting familiar with this little island. It is not the main Seurasaari island but nonetheless offers an old village and especially peace: many go to the main island and miss this pearl completely.

Although Helsinki is a big city it has some old cottages. One is located at Seurasaari island area by the shores of the sea. I think some people live there or at least have lived in the past. If I recall correctly a small power line used to connect the cottage to the grid. Regardless, me and Tommi happened to be there by sunset and with some nice clouds in the sky. Nobody rushed out to drive us away so we shot a serie of photos by the cottage. Have to say we were there at the most appropriate time!
Villa Tamminiemi used to be the official residence of the President of Finland. It is a mansion by the sea next to the idyllic Seurasaari island. The little building on the left hand side is sauna. When president Urho Kekkonen resigned in 1982 the residence was changed to Kekkonen’s private home and when he died in 1987 the mansion was made to Urho Kekkonen’s museum. One of the three current official residences of the President called Mäntyniemi is nearby. There’s of course the Presidential Palace too located in the downtown area. The last residence is Kultaranta in Naantali and it is used for summer residence of the President.
One very windy and snowy day I was photographing in Seurasaari island. I found this little lonely island close to it. Got the photo right on time – just after taking this a lot of geese arrived in hope of food :)
